If you thought that last summers arcade FPS title, Blacklight: Tango Down was a bit too expensive (which would be silly), perhaps the sequel will have a more enticing price point for yah. Zombie Studios’ CEO Mark Long recently announced that the sequel, simply known as ‘Blacklight‘, will be free to play when released while chargin players for premium content.

Mark Long stated to the guys at Big Download:

“The full game will be free along with premium content that can be purchased in-game. Blacklight will feature a large number of improvements based on the player feedback we’ve gotten. And we hope going free-to-play will close that loop so we can respond even faster to player preferences.”

Sounds promising, but I happened to like Blacklight: Tango Down and thought it was an exceptional shooter for the price tag.
Enhancing that experience however, Blacklight will utilize the Unreal Engine 3  and will feature all new gear, weapons, gadgets, levels, and introduce ‘mechs’ into the mix. Free-to-play has never sounded so good!

No other details have been provided on the Blacklight sequel, but as of now the game sounds pretty freakin’ awesome. I hope a more extensive story mode is added for a better co-operative experience, but I was still satisfied last year.

Have you guys played Blacklight: Tango Down? What did you think of it? Was it good enough to stand on its own? How will the free to play model impact your involvement with the game?
