At Nintendo's big bash today, the finally unveiled their European and North American launch dates and prices.

The 3DS will be out 2 days prior on March 25th for £229.99 in the UK and 249.99 in the euro market.

As the title says, the 3DS will be out on March 27th for us North American's for $249.99, in my opinion it's a little steep but after looking at the launch titles, the games are looking quite impressive. A lot of the big titles for me seem to be remakes, but even so I've never been more hyped to play these games.

As Joystiq has it, all of these games are coming out in the time frame between launch date and E3:

First-Party Launch Window Titles
  • Nintendogs + cats
  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Steel Diver

  4. This better be a good ass portable to have that kind of price range.

  6. Are the games still going to be priced at 70$?

  8. price is a bit worrying i have to say it almost equal to or more than a basic 360 console where im from, however i know this doesnt make a blind bit of difference and these will literally explode off the shelfs showering us in digital 3D debris.

good list of games aswell…wonder how much they will cost…

  9. That’s about the price for a 360 or a PS3. Wow! Regardless, I’m sure not one unit will sit on the shelves for longer than an hour. My wife has been eager to get her hands on one too. I guess I’d better start saving…

  10. Price for the UK is too high…

The DSi XL is £150 at the moment…. £229 is a big step up in price….

I have no doubt it will sell…. just doubt it’ll be in the region of the DS/DSi numbers….

  12. Honestly, why are people even questioning the numbers of sales based on the price? There’s tons of hype around the 3DS, they will fly off the shelves even at those prices.

Everyone takes notes from Apple’s marketing department. Things can be over-priced, as long as it’s a good enough product with a strong following, it’ll sell.

  13. 219£ on amazon. im getting it for my girlfriend too bad its not coming out in February

  17. As long as the experience when playing the 3ds is as good as their making it out to be ands the fact that Metal Gear Solid 3 is in 3D! Price isn’t an issue, I’ve already preordered mine.

  18. So, even though this sweet little thing costs as much as an Xbox 360 Slim with the large harddrive, I guess it’ll be off the store-shelves in hours, due to hype. I’m just worried about the sales when the hype around it is all gone, and it’s gotten reviewed up it’s ass.

It’s the long-term I’m worried about, because the same thing happened with the Wii. It was the HUGE thing when it first came and EVERYBODY wanted one, just because it was as hyped as it was. Nintendo has suffered a lot these past two years, due to the lack of game-sales.
So I’m just worried that this might happen to the 3DS as well, I’m not worried about the first year, because it’s gonna sell like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

  20. Nintendo have shafted us Europeans by not stating a Recommended Retail Price; now the retailers have free reign, £230! That means we pay $368 to have what our American friends are having.
Not even Ocarina of Time dropping for launch can warrant me paying that much for a 3DS.

  21. The european press conference was entertaining but so useless and uninformative. Dayum. The only new information was that 3DS will launch on March the 25th which is fucking useless unless we know what games will launch along side the hardware. 250 euros is a PS3 slim price tag… interestingly both consoles has no_gaems as of yet XD

  22. jDoom Says:
  23. It’s ridiculous. Maybe we all shall order consoles and games from US, and starve nintendo europe to the death.

  24. BigMercenary Says:
  25. Guess why they wanted to region lock it…

  26. Kilenem Says:
  27. I think nintendo is the Adam Sandler of the videogame industry. As in no won wanted to see Adam in a serious movie with punch drunk love. No one wants to see nintendo with a serious console. Ever one fliped out when the 3DS might be 300 dollars sating that it was more then there console. The DS was 150 when it first premiered and the gamecube coasted a 100 dollars. The psp was 250 when it came out and no one really complained about the price point. How is nintedo suppose to come out with a new console with great graphics but maintain a good price point nintendo has this double standard. There damned if they come out with a cheap console with ok graphics or damned they come out with a expensive console with with good grapics.
