Fans of From Software’s cult classic PS3-exclusive Demon’s Souls have been no doubt tracking the progress of the company’s forthcoming, multi-platform follow-up revealed simply as ‘Project Dark‘ back at last year’s Tokyo Game Show. Well, today word has hit the net that the game, currently in development for both the PS3 and 360, will be officially titled Dark Souls.
In addition, a few details on the game have emerged, informing fans that Dark Souls will have a similar play style as Demon’s Souls while maintaining the notorious difficulty of its predecessor. Also, there will reportedly now be one large open world as opposed to being divided into levels. Also, cooperative and competitive play will see you utilizing your custom characters to inhabit the world and interact with other players in a manner similar to Demon’s Souls – like leaving a note for other players at the place of your death.
Obviously, we’ll keep you posted on more details as they emerge, but feel free to shed some light on your thoughts about Dark Souls in the comments below while we collectively wait for more.
My thought’s…?
If it’s anything close to Demon Souls I will buy it Day one! even if it cost $150 bucks i would be that sucker!
I await for more Detail DK Have a G1
Just like Brian, if it manage to retain Demon’s Souls atmosphere, difficulty curve and a style it a day 1 purchase.
Uh, pretty much the same as Brian and Vulking. I wouldn’t pay 150 for it but I love the fact that they’re not going the way of Operation Flashpoint by ‘expanding their audience’ (reads going more casual) and are sticking to their guns and their fans. Super keen on a seamless sandbox world. I just hope that certain elements are tweaked as Demon’s Souls was quite a flawed game despite being terrifically awesome.
For example, having to kill the dragon with a million arrows was just freakin’ boring! Got iced by a black phantom in the process!
