It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard any thing interesting or significant regarding Ubisoft’s long in development action survival title I Am Alive, but today it appears that some fresh tidbits might give some insight into the game’s future.


During an interview with JeuxVideo, Ubisoft Toronto’s managing director Jade Raymond apparently revealed that the game is on track for a release later this calendar year, but not a release in the traditional sense, as several reports indicate that the game is being transitioned into a digital only release to be made available for download via PSN and XBLA.

Surprised? Well, you should be – if it’s true. Initial posts of the news also included a quote from Raymond confessing a lack of faith in the game as reason for the move to digital, but the posts seem to be backtracking a bit at the moment, with the original report on the Escapist’s website specifically being updated with the following rebuttal.

“Thanks to several readers who actually speak French it’s become clear that the comment about Ubisoft not having faith in the game did not come from Jade Raymond but was simply the opinion of the JeuxVideo announcer. In response to inquiries, meanwhile, Ubisoft said only, “We have not recently announced anything for I Am Alive and we have nothing official to announce at this time.”"

So, is this a case of things getting lost in translation or is I Am Alive officially being downgraded to a digital-only release? What about Ubisoft’s official level of faith in the game? Well, we’re not quite sure on either front at the moment, but we’ll of course let you know any new details as they emerge.
