UPDATE: As you’ve probably heard at this point, it turns out that there was apparently something ‘lost in translation’ from the original interview (which was in German) and Valve has issued a press statement to clarify.
“There’s a story making the rounds regarding Portal 2 support for PS3 Move. Unfortunately this quote was “lost in translation” — Portal 2 does not include support for Sony’s motion controller.”
So there you have it, we apologize for the error and for getting your hopes up if you were excited at the prospect of playing Portal 2 on Sony’s motion controller. Alas.
ORIGINAL STORY:

If a free PC version of the game, cross-platform play with the PC, and Steam Cloud based game saves aren’t enough to get you to buy the PS3 version of Portal 2, Valve has added another feature to sweeten the pot: PlayStation Move support. Although the Move functionality isn’t fully integrated into the game just yet, it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch given what they’re doing with the PC version of the game and the new motion controller from Razer.

Valve also recently announced the pre-order bonuses as well, including some skins and $5 off depending on where you buy it. Portal 2 releases April 20th on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. So who is in? Are you getting this game? Is Move support the thing that will get you to buy the PS3 version? Sound off below!

  2. excellent news, multi-platform coop is somewhat scary because console players use inferior controls (face it, the mouse and keyboard are a lot more responsive)
it only makes sense for console players to upgrade their controls with Move if they want to be competitive with pc gamers in coop matches.
Of course I do realize we’re talking about portal here but imagine if l4d2 had multi-platform coop

    Too bad though.

  6. i always hated when pc kids go on about how great pc controls are.. and its like.. really? ill give you the mouse its ok especially if you get one with buttons.

but an exercise in like 20 button claw finger to play any game is not good control design.

in fact if the controller came first and for consoles had keyboards people would be saying how awful a like 64 button horizontal controller is..

just because youve been doing it forever and are used to it doesnt make it the zen of great gaming controls.

    rant over.

  8. Actually both Move and 3D have been officially denied. It was just a rumor.

  10. I know it sounds silly, but this was one game I was hoping would have move support. I lack a move controller, but If I had one this game would be perfect for it

  13. It will have move support but probably not out of the box for the “very bad unfriendly to developers” PS3 (:p you know where I got that from).
Why do I think so, remember Razer? the have the new “move” aka Hydra for PC and Portal 2 is the game that will launch with it.

  15. sadly you have never been able to properly use a mouse cuz if you had you would not be spewing this nonsense.

I’ll help you out here pick up a console controller and stare really really hard at it, then back at the mouse and if you fail to see the difference in functionality you should probably stick to arcade games

  17. That’s fine. As long as PS3 owners get free PC version, I’m a happy boy
