By partnering with Mattel, THQ plans to produce and distribute video games based on mega-franchises like Barbie, Hot Wheels and Fisher-Price while also collaborating to expand the video game and interactive potential of newer properties such as Monster High and longtime Mattel favorites such as Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Polly Pocket and others.

Perhaps most interesting for old-school gamers though is the mention of Masters of the Universe, which is an IP included in the deal that leaves us children of the 80′s salivating over the potential to FINALLY get an awesome He-Man game. Fingers firmly crossed…

The multi-platform deal will focus on THQ designing, developing and marketing games for consoles and handheld systems; personal computers; mobile devices and social networks; alongside gaming portals XBLA, PSN, and the WiiWare Network. THQ will also be creating specific projects for use with its uDraw GameTablet as part of the deal.

Apparently, THQ and Mattel are already in the development stage on multiple games, the first of which are scheduled for release next holiday season. Details of these titles are expected to be formally announced in the coming months. Stay tuned!
