Have you ever gazed upon a clear blue sky for hours, contemplating life, the universe and everything as it appears within the rolling clouds? Now you can do the same thing, but instead of contemplating life, you’ll be able to watch Kratos dismember mythical beasts while Sack Boys grapple adorably through the air.
Hypothetically.
Sony announced to developers that the PS3 will host cloud storage in the near future, according to Kotaku. Like the Steam Cloud, this will provide PSN users a remote storage option for all games, saving precious hard drive space for one and all.
Hypothetically.
The service will reportedly only be offered to the almighty PlayStation Plus subscribers. Also, Sony is giving developers the option to deny the service on their games, as the cloud “will allow save data with the copy prohibited attribute to be copied into the online storage.”
Sony has dubbed its cloud system “Online Saving,” as opposed to the “PS Cloud” misnomer trademarked in 2009. It is expected to be released with the imminent 3.60 firmware update.
Sony will still support Steam Cloud with the release of Valve’s Portal 2 on April 21, enabling cross-platform play between PS3 and PC. Completely and for everyone.
How will a Sony Cloud change the way you play? Is this option the final push for you to get a PlayStation Plus account?
