Heavy Rain is breezing into its big screen release with news that “Deadwood” creator David Milch signed on to adapt the game’s screenplay for cinema.

Variety reports the Heavy Rain movie project is on a fast track from Warner Bros. and Milch will begin writing after finishing work on the first season of “Luck,” a new horse-racing series for HBO.
Unique Feature’s Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. in 2008, and sound stoked to have Milch working on the words.

“David Milch’s incredible ability to transform intense and complex storylines into gripping, popular drama makes him the perfect partner for us to have on ‘Heavy Rain,’” Shaye said.
