Sorry, Germany, but it looks like you will have to wait just a little longer to continue the space-horror adventure known as Dead Space 2. Due to a ‘friendly fire’ option in the game’s multiplayer component, Dead Space 2 will be delayed in Germany until February when said option has been taken out, because Germany isn’t too keen on the idea of human on human violence.
German gamers shouldn’t make a fuss just yet, however, as the entire single-player part of the game is completely untouched, as well as the other aspects of the multiplayer. So, if all that is missing is friendly fire, then you will still be able to experience the same, hopefully epic, gameplay of Dead Space 2.
It seems that censorship has struck again, but was this a matter that should have been attended to? Isn’t human on human violence, accidental or not, pretty much in every video game out now? What do you guys think about this? Too strict?

What I think about this? As a German?
It’s time that videogames are treated as a serious medium and not like a toy.
It is simply annoying to order stuff abroad because everything gets cut and censored around here.
If our government would be genuinly concerned, they would introduce 18+ sections in stores and be done with it.
I’m 30 years old and my government still treats me like a child when it comes to videogames. Hopefully our generation will get to make these decisions soon.
The sooner, the better.
I agree. When will they realize this is an adult form of entertainment now? When I get put into assisted living in 40 or so years, they better have a nice MA rated FPS on the latest gen console for me to pass the time with.
