In an interview with Famitsu, Team Ninja studio head Yousuke Hayashi revealed that two games in development at the studio, Project Progressive and Dead or Alive Cronus have been officially canceled. Although each game was originally revealed for the Xbox with development moved to the Xbox 360 later, neither one was in active development since the console launched. In fact, Cronus didn’t actually begin development, while Project Progressive’s development entered a “plot version”, according to Hayashi.
However, development ceased five years ago.

Even though these two games got canned, Team Ninja still has their hands full, as the developer is hard at work on Dead or Alive Dimensions for 3DS, Ni-Oh for PS3, and Ninja Gaiden 3 for an unannounced platform. Dead or Alive Dimensions will be the first title out of the gate, with Ninja Gaiden 3 launching before Ni-Oh.

What do you guys think of Team Ninja’s upcoming release schedule? Were Project Progressive and Dead or Alive Cronus lost opportunities or lost causes? Let us know in the comments!
