According to a report published on 1UP, the general manager positions at EA’s Tiburon and Canada studios have been eliminated, with former Tiburon GM Philip Holt “considering other options” within EA, and EA Canada GM Moira Dang no longer with company. In their place, each franchise will have its own GM who will report directly to Senior VP of EA Sports Andrew Wilson. 1UP says that “all EA Sports development going forward will be driven by one core team that will oversee asset creation and sharing across multiple studios”.

1UP also printed a statement released by EA, which states:

“We’re making organizational changes to our development team at EA SPORTS that will be better for the franchises and better for our people.

“We continue to proactively evolve our team to better position ourselves with improved product quality and growth in revenue for our shareholders, to share technology and lower our development costs, and to pioneer new innovation in digital experiences for our consumers.

“As part of this transition, we have eliminated the site-based GM roles at EAC and Tiburon.”
While the NBA Elite 11 debacle has certainly tarnished EA’s hoops reputation, it’s sad to hear that people are losing their jobs within the company. Here’s wishing them the best of luck with their future endeavors.
