Okay..breath. That’s the quote – any guesses? Well, since you probably read the headline already, I guess you’re just as shocked as I am right about now. Why? Because those words came from the mouth of Activision’s Bobby Kotick, which as we all know, is usually busy downing $100 bills for breakfast.
Speaking to Chris Grant over at Joystiq about all things Activision, Kotick went off the cuff to give some pretty good insight into Activision’s perspective on the business logistics of operating Xbox Live, the role of Call of Duty in the online space, subscription fees accounting for better customer service and more. He even tackled such topics as EA’s Online Pass (which is where the above quote came in), how to keep fans of a particular franchise engaged through meaningful content and why he feels Treyarch often doesn’t get the credit they deserve.

Let’s be realistic here. Chances are, if the online pass type strategies do come in to play, we’re going to STILL have to pay for both that AND overpriced DLC.
Unfortunately, the people have spoken with their dollars and showed Activision they’re willing to bend over and fork over their 15 dollars for a map. So Activision KNOWS they can make ridiculous amounts of money from DLC. Of course they’re not going to give up millions of dollars out of the goodness of their hearts. Subscriptions or even one time online multiplayer fees are just an excuse to make millions more.
It made me laugh when I saw this quote :p Seriously, coming from him is like Hell is frozen over (no offence Satan, but I think someone is trying to kick u off ur chair :P (refering to Satan in The Axe Factor)). The man does everything bút considering his customers. Raping entire franchises to the ground (Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero), kicking off ridiculous prices for DLC. He just needs to admit,, “Okay everyone, I only am in it for the money” which we all know he does, and stop making this forced and untrue statements.
Koticks some piece of buffalo diarrhea…i mean there is no doubt in my mind that he is the guy that says:
“ok, lets make this game with a minimum amount of changes and after the customer has given us 50 to 60 big ones, they will see that they have bought the same game as the last one in the series”

Man i miss those times where i could get Community made Mappacks and Mods for FREE or a full fledged Addon with Singleplayer AND Multiplayer Content for 20-30 bucks. Since MW this franchise died for me. You guys who bought Cod …again and again and got all the Mappacks for MW2 are in fact idiots to support these money grabing dicks. Seeing how well it sold makes me sick cause i dont understand this kind of behavior its like getting slapped in the face and asking for more…
And telling me this Game is so damn good it deserves it isn´t gonna cut it because it isn´t. Gameplay same as always minor graphical improvement some new MP game modes, new weapons and from what i hear laggy MP gameplay like MW2. Wow there goes 50 Bucks out of the window for a FULL game which in my opinion is nothing more like an addon for MW2 which was an Addon for MW1. Much like United Offense for the original Call of Duty. Hell i really miss the good´ol days…
Oh sorry my hands went out of control back to topic: Kotick is a dick and i choose neither EA´s online Pass nor overpriced DLC i simply DONT BUY the game
Not surprising that the quote came when he was speaking about EA. Haven’t read the article at joystiq yet but i’m sure said that to imply that EA takes adavantages of consumers with their online pass
“customer feels like” is the important part here, he is not saying that it’s wrong to take advantage of the customers. Just that you have to be care full so that they don’t notice that you are screwing them over.
