Valve studio's jefe Gabe Newell says "people will be shocked again" by primo trio of announcements due over the coming year. (Excitement!)
Valve released a pretty intense twist during the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo, when former PlayStation 3 critic and Valve studio's Gabe Newell announced that Portal 2 would coming out for Sony's console in addition to versions for the Xbox 360, PC, and Mac. and wait there's more!, Newell actually enthroned the PS3 version of Portal 2 "the best console version of the game," because of it's compatibility with the new Steamworks, which allows for auto-updates, downloadable content, and community support directly from Valve. (Say, What!) Of course, Portal 2's presence on the PS3 as it would seem won't be the only bit of astonishing news from Valve in the near future. In an interview with PC Gamer magazine, Newell promised that his studio (Valve) is planning to make three more, (Yes, not 1, not 2 but 3 MORE.) surprising announcements over the coming year.
"We have three pretty big surprises in the next 12 months at least," Newell told the magazine. "I can guarantee you people are going to be surprised at stuff we do. That isn't going to stop anytime soon. I'm just laughing because people will be shocked again."

Another (arguably) astonishing and amazing announcement would be that for Half-Life 2: Episode 3. It, initially was all planned as a rapid-fire episodic series, Valve's Half-Life 2 expansions generated quickly and took on a life of their own following the release of Episode 1 in June 2006. Episode 2 presented itself and arrived on its release more than a year after the first release in the series, coming hand in hand bundled style with Team Fortress 2 and Portal as part of The Orange Box in November 2007. Valve has not offered a time frame for the release of Episode 3.
Episode 3 is all that comes to my mind... maybe a remake of the entire series with a new Source Engine? I dunno.
This is news? "Be excited about things we haven't announced yet"?
Still happy for the Orange Box Valve sold...still unhappy that it has left me hanging all these years with the ending of the 2nd episode. I really hope its Episode 3 or a part 3 that is almost done.
1.Half-Life 3, which picks up where Episode 2 left off, but sporting an entirely new and more current game engine.
2. A total remake of Half-Life 1 with either the HL2 or HL3 engine for PC and consoles (or) Half-Life 1 being ported to XBLA and PSN.
3. Either a new Counter-Strike or a port of CS:S to PS3 360.
I almost gave op on Half-Life 3. but this story is giving me a reason to BELIEVE!

Well if its going to be "shocking" I dont think it will be episode 3 or L4D 3. I mean I would love to hear about something new for Half-Life but we were already waiting for that.

Seriuosly dude what makes you think that vaulve would just change every thing that makes half life good and put alyx in black lether, use a engine made buy a differnt devoloper, or try to make it more like FO3? It's not bad to want half life 3 and to wish for it to be filled with kool new epic things but when you start saying things like you want them to use the crytek 2 engine and that you want alyx dressed like cat woman or whatever. over half the posts here are asking for a all new hl3.. valve should wake up.. if valve does not have a new in house game engine and cant make 1- maybe the new crytek2 engine would be good- its said its not a computer on earth that can run the crytek3 engine they are working on now-- but crytek started leasing the rights out for its engine- 2 i think it is.. videos ive seen- it looks nice enough.. other changes id like to see- is a less linear game - they could even add some rps [role playing shooter] elements- id be ok with that. and being rps games are my favorite genre these days [stalker- bioshock- fo3- borderlands] etc. fo3 having the worst fps mechanics of them listed. its clunky- its a poor fps- and with vats its more a rpg game.. maybe valve could make the new in house gsc engine better- seems valve and gsc has worked together in the past.. i dont know- im just popping ideas is all.. the only surprise that will get my rise is 3 lil words.. Half- Life- 3.....

Somehow I doubt they'll do a L4D3. There's no need right now, they can just release more content as DLC expansions for L4D2. If the 3 surprises are DotA and Ep 3, the third surprise is probably going to be something completely new nobody knows about.

The reason why I like Valve so much, when they deliver content it's good and stands for quality.
The long delay between episodic content is pretty inexcusable, especially given the length of each episode.

After 3 years they need to give up on the "Episode" pretense and just announce Half-Life 3. It's been almost as long now since HL2 was released as it was between Half-Life 1 and 2.
Whatever they announce I'm sure it'll be awesome though. Half-Life 2 (episodes included) and Portal are both easily in my top ten favorite games. I don't fault them for taking a long time though, it sucks having to wait but I'd much rather get a game they are proud of.
