It looks like Sony is finally moving away from the earpiece game when it comes to wireless headsets. Sony revealed in a blog post their newest upcoming accessory: the PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset. It looks like a nice break from the super-slim Bluetooth sets they've had out so far. That "stereo" isn't just there for looks either, Sony confirmed that the headset will support 7.1 virtual surround sound. Most next-gen games support surround sound, and this looks like a nice option for those of us without the cash to set up a sound system in true.

The headset, on top of following Sony's sleek, utilitarian design, comes with a few other benefits as well. It will play nice with the PS3's in game notification system, allowing for on screen battery level and volume controls. The headset will also feature a retractable microphone for single-player games, or jus to listen to music. Did I mention it's wireless? The headset comes packed with a USB wireless adapter, which means some of us may have to buy a hub in the near future. Did I also mention how very pretty it is? The headset is set to hit stores in September, with an MSRP retail price of $99.99. So is it too much to ask for out-of-game chat, then?
