The Latest

I always bite my nails, but some of you may have taken it up awaiting the arrival of the Playstation Network Store. In addition to restoration of all DLC and purchase functions, the store has undergone some improvements to its overall interface and should experience less lag on startup. Here's hoping Sony patched a few of those holes while they were at it.

Still missing is the content promised as part of Sony's Welcome Back program, although the post promises "it is in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon." Sony also stated that an update for the Playstation Store and Playstation Plus will go live Friday, June 3rd with Sony set to "roll right into some special publishes starting next week for E3." This can probably be taken to mean we'll see a lot of E3 tie-in content in the form of videos, wallpapers, and (hopefully) demos.

For now, though, the Store has welcomed in a heap of new content. Everything from wallpapers, themes, and avatars, to demos, trailers, and new indie games have been added. The list of new content is actually pretty impressive, although its probably due to the considerable backlog of content from the past few weeks that had to sit on the bench. You can see the full list, as well as the press release
here. Also exciting, for those of us who play Rock Band, is the addition of a few dozen new tracks for the Rock Band Network. This is somewhat of a relief, considering the shakeups the music game industry had been through immediately before the outage.

This should be the last update on the status of the Playstation Network unless something changes. It's been an interesting saga. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to download some add-on content to my heart's content.
