Battlefield 3, we learned toady, will be hitting the PC, 360 and PS3 on Oct. 25, 2011.

Battlefield 3, using the new Frostbite 2 engine, will use a social integration service called Battle Log to help players communicate, share scores and videos and play together, much like the recently announced Call of Duty Elite service–but Battle Log will be completely free, EA announced.

The folks from DICE, the game’s development studio, also announced that Battlefield 3 will host an open, multiplatform beta in September.
