For those of you eagerly awaiting Armageddon, THQ has sent word that the latest installment in the Red Faction franchise is now slated for a multi-platform release across the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on May 31, 2011 in North America and June 1, 2011 internationally.
Here’s an official description of the game:
Red Faction: Armageddon expands on the critically acclaimed science-fiction franchise, building on the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla as well as the upcoming Syfy live-action movie, Red Faction: Origins. As destruction expert Darius Mason, your journey will take you from the frozen poles to the molten core of Mars as you wage war against the Red Faction’s greatest enemy yet. Built on the groundbreaking Geo-Mod 2.0 destruction engine, players can take advantage of total environmental destruction, collapsing huge Martian structures on their enemies. Rebuild all that you destroy with the Nano-Forge’s incredible repair ability, creating new gameplay scenarios never before possible.
“Red Faction: Armageddon is an incredible new entry in this vaunted franchise, and Volition once again pushes the envelope of technology and science fiction,” said Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President, Core Games, THQ. “Come May 31, players can look forward to collapsing entire buildings on their enemies, using the world as their weapon.”
Sounds fun to me! Who here is pumped about giving this one a try?
