As you might have suspected with the recent reveal of the NGP, Sony has today announced that the PSP-3000 system will be available for a new low price of $129.99 (MSRP) beginning this weekend – February 27, 2011. That’s a pretty nice savings off of the current retail price of the portable entertainment system, which has been going for $169.99 as of late.
In addition, the PSP’s “Greatest Hits” and “Favorites” collections are being expanded to ensure you’ve got some good games on the cheap to go with your new handheld console. The additions to the $19.99 PSP Greatest Hits library include Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY , LittleBigPlanet PSP, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER and Toy Story 3: The Video Game, while Daxter, Tomb Raider Anniversary and more are now priced at $9.99 as part of the PSP Favorites library.

I don’t think people will have much incentive to get this now, I think all that wanted a PSP has one. But if there is anyone out there, here’s to good news.
steap upp yooo gaiem…dawwg!
Don’t think i’d bother if they were giving them away.
Incoming NGP at £too fucking much.
At the same time Sony Europe declined to comment on possible PSP price drop on the right side of the pond ;p So, like Kazuo Hirai would’ve said: It’s the same price! Just in £ =(
This is great news, if not for those wanting to buy one new, then definitely those who want one used. It’ll drop the average price of a used unit by ~$30.
