Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is getting a HD makeover, according to Just Add Water’s Lorne Lanning.
The game is getting a graphics and engine overhaul while keeping the classic qualities of the series starter.
“It’s basically Abe’s Oddysee being redone in a 3D physics engine as a 2D side-scrolling platformer,” Lanning said in a Facebook interview with Electronic Gaming Monthly. So the way Just Add Water wants to approach it, we thought was very smart; they are not trying to reinvent any wheels. It’s like, ‘Can we make that experience in a new engine, with new tech, in the old way?’”
Stranger’s Wrath is still headed to PSN, as what Lanning calls “the same game, but being redone.” Lanning is excited about Stranger’s Wrath on a Sony platform, and Just Add Water would like to see the game on XBLA, but it is consistently rejected.
“We have Stranger all ready to go on XBLA, but the answer keeps being no. We’re still talking to them and we’re hoping to work it out,” Lanning said.
Are you pumped to play Abe’s Oddysee in HD?

I wonder if people who bought the oddbox will also get this HD revamp or get it cheaper. Granted, the original Abe games still look OK.
I actually tried this game on a psp simulator a year go, i know i know, its not good, but i loved this game growing up and it still looked and played awesome… the reason i deleted it was, because of the L2 and R2 buttons… *the psp aint got them* so i will def’ buy this one!!
How ’bout that 2GB XBL restriction? Awesome, huh?
OH HELL YES, can only hope this leads to plenty more 2d oddworld goodness… with physics puzzles? why not!
I especially love the fact that you’re paying for the service but they’re still too cheap to allow something that will use too much bandwidth.
I’m definitely not pumped! I love Abe but it really get’s on my nerves: HD remakes and not a single one for PC which can pump out better graphics … Not even Steam versions…
It’s because it’d be good service and cost them extra to support people paying for the beautiful luxury of Xbox Live. We couldn’t have that… could we.
