Turns out that the shattering of Azeroth isn’t the only thing on tap for WoW’s latest expansion. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has also shattered sales records, selling 4.7 million copies in its first month and setting a new PC game sales record.

Launching simultaneously in the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand on December 7 (it became available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau two days later), Cataclysm sold 3.3 million copies on its first day of availability, taking the title of fastest-selling PC game of all-time from its direct predecessor, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
