Those of you who were lucky enough to play the original Dead Space will unlock the plasma cutter from that game upon launching Dead Space 2. Well, actually – those who were lucky enough to play the original game and still have a saved game to prove it.

For anyone who still has a saved game on their hard drive from the first Dead Space (completed or not), you will get the plasma cutter, Dead Space’s very handy pistol-like main weapon (you know, the one that gave you an achievement for playing the whole game using only it?). Though the weapon will not retain any of the upgrades you implemented in the original game, it will still be nice to have, especially for those of us who did play through the entire game with only a one-weapon arsenal.

Anyone else go through the original game using only the plasma cutter? Do you care about this unlock at all, or are you just chomping at the bit for whatever new saw-blade/laser beam/insane-o weapon the dev crew is sure to throw your way? Sound off below!
