According to the Cerberus Daily News (CDN), the in-game news service in Mass Effect 2, their daily news posts will cease to update shortly after the game’s one year anniversary on January 24th. The CDN has been adding background content to the game’s universe for the past year, as well as providing notification of and a conduit to DLC.
The CDN did say, however, that there will be three more weeks of updates in 2011. One week leading up to a newly revealed piece of pre-Mass Effect 3 DLC (no details yet), and two weeks of updates leading up to the launch of the next game.
So even though we are glad for all the reporters at the CDN to get a well deserved vacation, we will be sad to see it go dark for a bit. But the prospect of one more piece of DLC might just be enough to hold us until the arrival of Mass Effect 3. What do you think?
And for all of you PS3 players who haven’t had a chance to check out the game yet, don’t forget you can pick it up when it releases for the PS3 on January 18th in North America!
