Scientists at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies have developed the missing link between LARP-ing and World of Warcraft with a new, free middleware that transfers keystrokes to body motions, used in tangent with Kinect.
The Flexible Action and Articulated Toolkit, or FAAST, was built over OpenNI and can make games like WoW more immersive by translating a button press to a grabbing, slicing or spell-casting motion. FAAST currently runs with about 20 different motions, but it is considered version .03 and more improvements are expected to come.
Check out the demo video, download FAAST for free, and try it out on your next raid – then, tell us all about it right here!
