CD Projekt’s The Witcher was certainly a sleeper hit, surprising PC gamers everywhere with its polished world, solid gameplay mechanics, and colorful cast of characters who cursed like sailors. Therefore, it’s pretty safe to assume that the sequel is among the most highly-anticipated games for PC fans. Sadly, the wait and the anticipation have just gotten a little bit longer, as The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has been pushed to May 17, 2011. This bumps the original projected (or is it projekted?) launch a few months from the originally announced March 2011.
“We’ve decided to move the launch date back a few weeks to afford us more time to polish the game” said Adam Badowski, project lead at CD Projekt RED. “Of course, we know that players would like to get the game as soon as possible, so we hope that they will forgive us! We strongly believe that the extra time spent polishing the title will be well worth the wait”.
Additionally, the CD Projekt team will field questions and reveal news at their autumn conference this Thursday, November 18, unveiling info on The Witcher 2’s Collector’s Edition, DRM implementation, and pre-order incentives, although it was unclear if the all-important topic of foosball will be addressed.

This is the reason next year that I will be building a PC rig. It looks awesome! I cant wait until I can muster up enough money to be able to afford a PC rig and then play the game woooo
There’s already far too many games vying for our attention in March. I totally welcome this delay.
Side-note to publishers: Instead of running away from Call of Duty every year, and jamming all of your high profile titles into Q1, grow a pair and make an attempt to compete in Q4.
It’s easy for a bully to take your lunch money when you don’t bother to put up a fight…
At least they give a reason to the delay, diferent from Microsoft with Fable 3, or Sony with the GT5.
so have they confirmed whether or not we will see this on the consoles?
Check out GT for an interview with one of CD Projekt’s lead designers, at Gamescom. He pretty much confirms there will be console versions without making an “official” announcement.
Obviously, he gave no time frame, so we have no idea if they will release alongside the PC version or otherwise.
All I can say is I’m totally fine with this. This is my most anticipated game and it looks incredibly promising. CD Projekt need all the time they can to get this released with minimal bugs and to a triple A standard.
I really hope they release this and bring a new era for RPG’s because BioWare seems to be stalemating and I think they need some other ambitious developer not locked down by EA to give them ideas.
Dr.RoXo: so have they confirmed whether or not we will see this on the consoles?

“The development team confirmed it is actively exploring options for bringing the game to current-generation consoles, but will not be doing so if the hardware can’t give the game the graphical fidelity the studio believes it deserves.”
From what i’ve seen of the gameplay this quote makes it seem like slim chances but let’s not put doubt into CD Projekt because they did miracle work with the Aurora engine.
