Microsoft has revealed the initial sales numbers for Kinect, and they are nothing short of impressive. Microsoft’s hands-free controller solution has sold a million units within its first ten days of release, and is on pace to hit the five million mark by the end of the year. The add-on launched on November 4 for $150, and is available as a standalone pack as well as in console bundles.
“This is a great start to the holiday season,” Microsoft’s Don Mattrick stated in a press release. “We will continue to work with our retailer partners to keep pace with high demand and deliver against our plan to sell more than 5 million Kinect sensors worldwide by the end of this year.”
To put this into perspective, Sony’s PlayStation Move launched September 17 and “shipped” (not quite sold) one million units in North America and Latin America within its first month.

well it was only 1 million worldwide and they a probably gonna hit the 5 million mark for that but the wii sold like 47 million just in the uk. So its impressive but not that impressive, they could of even just sold in american and still hit their mark 5 million is low.
That’s really not surprising considering I can’t even watch a web video anymore without having to sit through 30 advertisements for it. It’s all over TV and just about anything else with a screen, and it’s already irritating. We all knew it would happen though, Microsoft has a nack for taking average new releases and hyping them up so far as to wear out the word revolutionary. Honestly I think their mind is more on their marketting than what they’re actually selling.
