Capcom is spreading the love with an official release date for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 of Feb. 15, 2011, meaning a midnight launch on Valentine’s Day. Or Valentine’s Night, which we all know is the real reason to get excited for February 14 in the first place.
Capcom has also confirmed the $69.99 Special Edition details:
- Steelbook case featuring exclusive art work
- Comic/Art book- A 12-page prologue comic, written by Marvel writer Frank Tieri, plus campaign art and a curated selection of fan art.
- 1-month Subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, providing unlimited online access to Marvel content
- 2 Playable DLC Characters – Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine.  Content is available 4 weeks post-launch.
That’s two more confirmed characters with Jill Valentine (how fitting) for Capcom and Shuma Gorath for Marvel.

Gamestop preorders can snag some MvC3 console decals featuring Ryu, Wolverine, Deadpool and Dante and their move-sets.

Check out the box art by the guy who designed the armor for the Iron Man movies, Adi Granov, and some recent screenshots and full Special Edition pictures on the Capcom blog!

  2. What bothers me is that they intend to sell us characters that are made for what it seems the original roster. But then again CAPCOM has done this since the new age of DLC. I just hope the roster grows more out of this “DLC” characters.

Either way, I’m gonna be reserving my copy tomorrow. 3 months are not that far off, hope they make the deadline.

  4. If i remember capcom said the roster will be 30.There 2 more character to be named. So are Jill and Shume the last 2 or are they add after the last 2 are named? If not the add on to the original 30 it mean they plan it from the start.God there better be 2 more or ill stab some one. Then buy the game but stabbing first.

  5. This release date will break up a bunch of folks.

MVC3 > Valentine Day = You’ll need MVC3 after you ignore your Valentine
