Joystiq is reporting today a number of signs that seem to point to a Game Informer reveal of a brand new Tomb Raider game, which is looking more and more like a prequel title than a full-on follow up to the latest proper game in the series, Tomb Raider: Underworld (or even the well-received offshoot Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light).
The clues that Joystiq is reporting include:
- A teaser image (above) in the November issue of Game Informer stating “A Survivor is Born”, with an accompanying website (asurvivorisborn.com)
- A NeoGAF poster revealed that the Google Analytics account number for the website, 6150945-XX, matched that of kaneandlynch.com, minininjas.com and deusex.com, all titles owned by Eidos and Square Enix, the owners of the Tomb Raider IP (the number has since been changed).
- The crashed ocean liner image resembles the leaked concept art from last year and the game’s leaked fact sheet (still up at Shacknews) states “When a sudden storm destroys her research vessel, a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself stranded on a mysterious and remote island hidden off the shores of Japan.”
- The “survivor is born” tagline from the website also hearkens back to the leaked fact sheet: “This new Tomb Raider concept reboots the franchise by exploring the origin of Lara Croft’s transformation into a hardened adventurer as you unravel the story behind the island’s mysterious past.”
- A thread concerning the possible reveal on tombraiderforums.com features a post from an admin named Justin J. Farr, which states “I know something you lot don’t”.
