Gaming Headlines is back to VGH, with some big time news and views just for you guys. So, let's get started with the main course. Nintendo's Stereoscopic handheld has released an official window launch February 2011 in Japan, March 2011 for US/Europe; price pegged at 25,000 yen ($299) in home nation. Naughty Dog's award winning third person action adventure game, Uncharted 2 has been announced to release a Game of the Year edition which includes a $38 worth of in-game downloadable content and last but not the least Hollywood adaptation of Io Interactive's squad-based shooter suffers a setback after French director walks away from project; film's production pushed back.
Nintendo 3DS Launching Q1 on 2011
So after months and months of speculations and rumors regarding Nintendo's acclaimed 3DS portable player. Nintendo finally announced the official release date and pricing for its 3DS console during a press release conference in Tokyo. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed that the 3DS console will go into shelves on February 26, 2011, in Japan for a price of ¥25,000 ($299. The US and European launch will then follow within at least a month in March, but there are no price details given by Nintendo regarding the other regions, announcements regarding pricing will later be adressed by the companies publishers within regards to the overseas branches. A few color selections apply for the 3DS, Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black hues within Launch. (Fancy.)  |

The short clip also showed most of the functionality that will allow players to stop, or pause their game to browse the internet, send data wi-fi style, as well as interact with other users who are walking nearby with a 3DS (Chat feature). The console can also connect to Wi-Fi's when in sleep mode and automatically download data, including rankings, ghost rankings, and downloadable content and software.
Iwata wrapped up the press conference by admitting that third-party games often don't sell well on Nintendo hardware, with Wii third-party game sales low in Japan and the first year of Nintendo DS software sales all coming from the publisher's own titles. This is something the publisher is hoping to rectify with the 3DS.
The conference ended with a video of publishers and developers singing the praises of the new handheld, including Capcom, Level-5, and Konami. According to Capcom, a new Resident Evil title, called Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, is also in development for the 3DS.
Nintendo first announced the 3DS during its E3 2010 press conference, laying out a sizeable number of first-party titles, including Kid Icarus: Uprising, Star Fox 64 3D, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Later, the publisher also confirmed a strong lineup of third-party support for the 3DS, with titles like Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D - The Naked Sample, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Pro Evolution Soccer, Dead or Alive 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, Ninja Gaiden, Pac-Man & Galaga, and Dragon Ball all getting the 3D treatment, as well as a spate of unnamed titles from developers such as Harmonix, Take-Two, Atlus, AQ Interactive, Disney Interactive Studios, Hudson Soft, Majesco, Marvelous Entertainment, and Sega.
Uncharted 2 Game of the Year Edition
Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was widely regarded as one of the best games of 2009, securing accolades that ranged from The Years Best Action Adventure to Game of the Year at the 10th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards. It comes as no surprise, then, that Sony and Naughty Dog will be teaming up to rerelease the top-rated PlayStation 3-exclusive, announcing today that the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Game of the Year Edition will be available October 12.
Naughty Dog also provided a sales update for Uncharted 2 today. Following its October 13, 2009, debut, the game has now sold 3.8 million units worldwide. The studio went on to note that more than 125 million online multiplayer matches have been played.

Kane & Lynch Film Director Quits
In February 2007, Hollywood publication Variety reported that Eidos Interactive had sold the rights to Kane & Lynch: Dead Men to Vancouver-based studio Lionsgate, which would turn the game into a film about two inmates who break out of jail to pursue a bank heist. Now, the Los Angeles Times is reporting that production on the film has stopped because of French director Patrick Alessandrin's "falling off" the project.
According to the paper, the film was due to begin shooting next month, but since Alessandrin's departure, studio heads have struggled to come up with a replacement. While Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx are reportedly already on board for the title roles, Lionsgate is now trying out a number of directing hopefuls, including Wayne Kramer (Running Scared) and F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job). However, no deal has apparently been struck, pushing back the film's production start until next year. The official Lionsgate stance is that a director has not been chosen, and a start date is TBD.

300$? sorry, i really cant see myself spending that much on this when i can just buy the other, more superior console like 360 or PS3.

I would rather wait for the inevitable 3DS XL (I like big screens). But, Paper Mario or Zelda OoT will probably make me buy whatever version is out when they come out.
I'm sorry, but, they are going 2 hav 2 do cheaper in the price range if they want me to buy it. There are definitely a bunch of games that i will buy for it, but, guranteed they'll still b here, new or used, when they give a $100 pricecut to the system if they price it at japans price.
ridiculous as well, the wii when it launched had plenty of memory in the system alone, could download old school games, surf the web, and make miis, and they priced it $50 cheaper. for another thing, don't they realize that we are in a recession, and when its a choice of a brand new system and living in a house and eating for the week, the only people that will choose the system is if they are 30, single, jobless, and still smooching off mom for food and other such needs.

While the Japanese price for the 3DS is high, I expect that oversea versions will be priced lower. Even though we know of its release dates and price (Japan only), there is still more to be learned about the 3DS months before its Japanese debut early next year.

Uncharted 2 GOTY took a long time getting out :P
I traded in my copy of Uncharted 2 a while back in favor of some newer games.
Ended up regretting it. I'd love to play it again, and this is a really good excuse to re-purchase it.
Man Uncharted 2 Deserved GOTY For sure. I just had to buy the Game and then buy all the DLC's, not that bad, the game was worth your $60+ money you spend on DLC's Naughty dog do live up to there Reputation. Wish they made a Jak and Daxter game for the PS3, some Fans really miss that game. =(
These DLCs seem just ok. I already got UC2 and it's solid game but for someone who doesn't already own the game I suggest to buy a used version of the game for less than 30$. Multiplayers DLCs are ok but skins, comics and avatar, I don't know, it seems it doesn't worth it. Should take exemple on LBP and Fallout 3 GOTY edition. These packs were amazing.
Im only at about chap 20 on Uncharted 2 idk so far the first one seemed better, no vehicle levels { yet} those were really cool, and im not big on mp, so for me so far, the first one was better, and harder!
Should I be proud I have the original box art for Uncharted 2 when it just came out, or should I feel robbed that I don't have all this DLC... Well I didn't spend much time at all playing Uncharted 2 online anyway so I guess I'm not missing out. The single player was EPIC tho.
