Gamescom's jury awards Sony's long awaited and announced, 3D-enabled racing game as the best of show, best console title; PlayStation Move, Kirby, Crysys 2, Guild Wars 2 also take home something to be proud off at this years Gamescom.
Annually, The EEE or E3, presents a panel of experts, game journalists from different top press outlets to decided and bestow the Game Critics Awards on the convention's top games. (You know that little sticker that is usually outside of that Fallout 3 Game case that says Game Critcs Award, yeah this is it.) Nintendo's 3DS took top honors this year round, along with Bethesda and id's post apocalyptic shooter-driving game Rage.
Today, Gamescom recently announced the recipients of its own equivalent of the Game Critics Awards. A jury of press and industry figures selected by the organizers of the Cologne, Germany-based convention handed out awards in seven categories. Sony's Gran Turismo 5, the long-awaited racing game from Polyphony Digital and Sony Computer Entertainment, won in two of those categories: Best of Gamescom and Best Console Game.
Sony also earned another trophy for Best Hardware Accessories with its PlayStation Move motion-sensing system, due out in North America on September 19. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and 5th Cell snagged the Best Handheld/Mobile Game prize with Super Scribblenauts, and NCsoft got the Best Online Game award for Guild Wars 2.
The Best PC Game honor went to the recently delayed Crysis 2, which will also be out on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Curiously, the jury also handed out an award in a Best Family Entertainment category, which Nintendo nabbed with Kirby's Epic Yarn for the Wii.

You know, in all honesty I can accept someones opinion and never once argue with it, but why do people like you have an uncontrollable urge to make yourself look ignorant? I like my 360 and PS3 both, but you obviously haven't even played Prologue if you think Forza 3 is better. Just look at the comparisons of the two, how much time went in to it, and all the licenses they've acquired. If you prefer Forza 3 play it and enjoy it, but don't comment it like that. It just makes you sound like a kid who couldn't get both consoles because mommy and daddy said no, and it's pretty embarrassing. Stop being a fanboy and become a gamer.

@ahpuck dude most of the things you said is just WRONG. like seriously. as an xbox owner, i am glad the ps3 is finally getting some positive flak instead of some negative publicity. yeah, the xbox has DOMINATED in the past few years, but we all knew that if sony didnt get its head out o its anus the ps3 would be known as the machine which could and failed. now its out there, its getting the respect it deserves, and a lot of my friends own both the ps3 and 360 and they play both an equal amount. so yeah, microsoft is sitting in wait for a while, they have halo reach and gears 3 and just focusing on shifting their console from a bunch of hardcore gamers to a system for everyone. is it good? yeah, is it bad? yeah, sometimes, but you showing you are some form of ultimate fanboy is kind of wrong. no one "wins" in this console war. if you like it, you like it. thats why there is a choice out there. im getting a ps3 soon, and supported it from the beginning, is that wrong? no, because most people welcome competition, not bash.

When the PS3 also came out, it was the most expensive console out there so taking that into account plus the huge amount of kids around the world, the Wii is dominating unfortunately. So congratulations, you are false on your own assertion by two fold. When it comes to comparing consoles, you should look at the quality of the titles that came out in the past couple of years. As a 360 and PS3 owner, I can say with certainty there are way better games on the PS3. Xbox has a better online service though. Some examples of the past couple of years where "xbox has dominated" include , the greatest game of all time MGS4, killzone 2, infamous, little big planet, Demon Souls, UNCHARTED 2, Resistance 2, GOD OF WAR 3, Mod nation racers, Heavy Rain, do I need to keep going? Now that GT5 is coming out, its gonna blow any game that XBOX has to offer straight out of the water. 3D simulation, PERIOD!
@theku and you have proven my point. you take your love too seriously. in every one of my posts i have never said "sony sucks" and this is coming from a guy who bleeds the green of the xbox360. im pretty sure that competition is great in this world, but when folks take words too seriously, it is pretty sad. previous generations, i had all 3 consoles(n64, ps1, then ps2, psp, dreamcast, xbox, gba, ds) and every time a game came out, i was like "oh yay, that is good, thats cool" i never said "its better on system a" why? because competition DRIVES companies. yeah, microsoft has some solid exclusives, so does sony, but do you see me saying "yeah, you are DUMB for owning a system?" no. god, i have said it before and i will say it again. the love and hate for systems, especially on forums? its like the east coast west coast rap rivalry, the crips and bloods. dude, just drop it. if you cant be positive about it, just dont say it.
Console wars (fanboyism) are a product of an underdeveloped adolescent brain that can not accept that what they have, is not the best, this sparks an underdeveloped brain in to confusion and when this brain is confused, it reacts with simple forms of emotion like anger or jealousy. This is a proven scientific fact. Let me explain. When we were neanderthals this same instict made us chase the nicer women, drove us to make better weapons to hunt or take land from a nearby clan, i.e. it helped a young underdeveloped male become a man.
The problem is that in the modern world we STILL have the paleopallium or intermediate (old mammalian) brain. This is at the core and is the brain of the inferior mammals. The mammalian brain is not saying "hey, your spear is sharper than mine" or "I am hungry and you have more food than me". It is saying "PS3 is crap you punk and xbox rules" or "I'm going to Burgerking".

For the last few years, xboxos have been bashing the PS3, now they come waiving the white flag by telling ps3 owners to stop bashing the xbox, please! I'll never understand why there needs to be hatred directed from one console preference to the other. I'm a gamer. I would think most people on here are. We want good games, period. This looks good. I certainly hope it lives up to my long awaited expectations. And the same goes for many games on other consoles as well.
Congrats to PD for winning those two awards with Gran Turismo 5. I preordered GT5 so I can't wait for it to come out. Finally, I can stop playing shooting games and start back into my gaming roots. I grew up playing racing games(yes even though I am only 16).Only recently I started playing shooters as of 2008 but now that this game is out, I can actually buy peripherals for it to actually do a simulated race or drive.
Now a word to all platforms. I do have a PC and a PS3 to play games on, but each console has its own stuff. Xbox has Halo, Forza, GoW, etc. PS3 has Uncharted, Killzone, GT5, etc. Wii has whatever games it has like Super Mario, Mario Kart, etc. All consoles are good, and therefore you cannot go wrong in purchasing any one of those. I have owned an Xbox, Wii, and now I own a PS3.
Now in financial and futuristic terms, the PS3 is showing a huge growth potential by its new features and the features to come. Yes the Xbox 360 sold more, but that's because of the 1 year earlier release date and its less expensive parts. The PS3 may have only gone through a new SKU 1 year ago, but now the demand is greater for the PS3 than the Xbox 360. Hate on me if I said that, but THIS IS TRUE. The Xbox 360 is a great console, but the PS3 is destined to overtake the 360 sales and is destined to get some of their stuff too. EA is now mainly partnered with PS3. Activision is mainly partnered with 360. Lol, why did i write this essay? anyway CANT WAIT FOR GT5. Who's with me?

@willywils what you said, i agree with wholeheartedly. i like competition, but i am glad with what i own(an xbox) i am glad the ps3 took gamescom with gt5. we all knew it would be beautiful, why? because they took what, 10 years to make it? they put effort into making the game. what is wrong with saying i like a game on a system i do not own? seriously, if you own it, be happy, if you dont own it, at least be glad something is out there which is super excellent and makes you want to buy another console, heck even have the competition! @copman221, @theku you get that? im pretty sure you did.
